Bi-Metal self drilling screws have heads and threads made of 304 or 316 grade stainless stell providing exceptional corrosion resistance.  The steel drill point of the screw is a hardened carbon steel which is welded to the stainless steel thread.  This allows the screw to drill and tap into steel up to 12mm thick.

Stainless steel fasteners are resistant to bi-metallic corrosion as they are one of the most noble/Cathodic metals. To minimise the risk of bi-metallic corrosion of fasteners, match the surface metal of the fastener with the metal it will be fixing. Where this is not possible it is best to match a large anode with a small cathode.  Aluminium is highly corrosive and will be an anode, whereas stainless steel is resistant to corrosion and is the cathode. Aluminium frames (large anode) should always be used with stainless steel fasteners (small cathode) to prevent bi-metallic corrosion.

Light section Tek screws are designed with a course thread to better engage with thinner

steel substrates up to 3mm.

Coarse threads engage with a ‘clamping’ force, which when applied to thinner substrates increases pull out performance. The ‘clamping’ force locks the substrate between the threads.

These fixings are used for fixing cladding/roofing applications to hot/cold rolled purlins/rails and fastening liner panels and general components to steel.

Heavy section Tek screws are designed with a fine thread to better engage with thicker

steel substrates from 3mm up to 12mm. TEK 5 fasteners are designed with ‘v-fluting’ which decreases toque.

Used for fixing cladding/roofing applications to hot/cold rolled purlins/rails and fastening liner panels and general components to steel.

Low profile Tek screws are designed with a low profile head for a neater finish, when

material cannot be countersunk easliy.

Used for fixing components, brackets and miscellaneous hardware to light gauge steel substrates where a low profile or anti-snag head is required.  Low profile Tek screws can also be powder coated to a large range colours to match the material they are applied to.
